Richard A. Schmidt, Owner

Cow Creek Ranch is owned and was founded by "All-Around Nice Guy" Richard A. Schmidt of Boerne, Texas. Richard was born and raised in San Antonio and has German heritage in the town of Boerne. He grew up hunting and processing meat with his family and learned the skills and recipes that had been passed down for many generations. Richard later began processing meat for his own family and a few friends and coworkers, never really thinking he would one day make a living doing so.

Richard has always had a great love for nature and its beauty and often wondered how he could preserve this beauty in an artistic way. He took an interest in taxidermy, and in 1993 began working for an experienced taxidermist in San Antonio to learn the trade. After learning many skills and techniques from his mentor, Richard decided to go into business for himself doing taxidermy and meat processing. The business has grown by word of mouth and we are now serving over 100 customers every year.

Richard has based his business on his personal beliefs that his work must be done at the highest level of quality and that all transactions should be done with honesty and integrity. Ask any one of his customers and they will tell you this is true!
